Candles in the Cathedral

So I think I'm finally used to the time change. I woke up this morning and actually wasn't tired! Today we took a walking tour all over Florence. It included the Duomo, David, a 1716 Stradivarius violin and many other things. The violin was absolutely gorgeous with lots of mother-of-pearl designs on the pegs and the bottom of the fingerboard. I told my mom that if I ever stole anything it would most definitely be that violin. She also said that the museum used to rent the violins to famous people coming to perform in Florence but sadly they don't any more. I wish!

The statue of David was pretty weird but REALLY big. It wasall solid marble so it also must have weighed a ton. There was tape and sensors around the heels of his feet because there's so much stress on them that it could fall over if they don't monitor it. The best thing about seeing it is that now I can say that I saw something of Michelangelo's (dang that's a long name).

The Duomo was really pretty. We got to see paintings on the ceiling and lots and lots of altars. Every couple of minutes the prayers coming out of the speakers would stop and a guy would say, "SSSSSHHHHHHHHHH SILENCIO, SSSSSHHHHHH SILENCIO PER FAVORE". For me it was actually kind of funny! After seeing the Duomo, it got everyone wanting to climb to the top of it. Tomorrow morning we're waking up early to walk to the top. Supposedly it has around 460 stairs but it should be worth it since your able to see all of Florence.
