Missing Cinque Terre Already

Today was a sleep in day, SCORE! I slept until 9 (which isn't that late but compared to 7 it's wonderful) and didn't actually get out of my PJ's until 12. I had a yummy breakfast at 10 which was a chocolate and cream pastry, a fried egg and some pineapple yogurt.

Right after breakfast a 5.2 earthquake hit. The walls kind of shook but nothing broke. When we looked outside our window there was a crowd of locals talking in really loud, fast Italian. It was crazy! Dad was ready to move around 12 so he herded us all out of the apartment. We went down to the train station and on our way we bought pizza for lunch. Mine had prosciutto on it which is my second favorite food, after octopus.

At the station we bought tickets to Vernazza, the only other beach town in Cinque Terre. I decided, once we got there, that I didn't want to go swimming so I sat with mom at the internet cafe, had an orange and honey dew juice, and tried to help her find a hotel or an apartment to stay at. After a while I got hungry and went to go get a cone of fried fish. It had calamari, octopus, and fried pieces of cod. SO GOOD!

When the computer died, we went to go find Dad and Helen to go home. There wasn't a train that was leaving the station any time soon so we took the boat. I got to sit up top and look out over the edge. It was really pretty and you could see all of the cities except Riomaggiore which is behind a corner. The wind wasn't bad and it wasn't sunny enough to get burnt.

Once we got to Manarola, Mom gave Helen and I a key, and money for gelato and shopping. We walked around for a while, and then ran into Mom and Dad with groceries, on their way back. Helen and I went into a courtyard for a while and played cards, then dinner was ready. We had salad, leftover spaghetti, mussels, cheese and beef. It was super good and even better since it was homemade.

After dinner we played two family games of donkey and not
to brag or anything but I won one of them. :) The adults poured wine and we got Fanta to go outside onto a terrace and watch our last sunset in Cinque Terre. We stayed in our normal spot for a while before we explored a little and found another courtyard with a bench.

After most of the color was wiped from the sky, we went back to the apartment. We had to go to sleep right away because there was no sleeping in in the morning.
