Cinque Terre

Today was the last day for everyone except for the Vances. Everybody except us got up at 6:30 and took cabs to the airport. I didn't want to get up that early, so I said my goodbye's the night before. Our train to Cinque Terre got delayed, and we had to leave at 10:30. Our train wasn't very fast, compared to other trains that I've been on, but it was fun.

First of all, it had compartments like in Harry Potter, which was super cool. The train ride was four hours but I never got bored. It dropped us off at a small town called La Spezia. We still had to get tickets for the other train that would take us to Monorola, where we would be staying. See, Cinque Terre is made up out of five small towns. They are, Monorola, Corniglia, Vernazza, Monterosso and Riomaggiore. We were staying in Monorola. We got tickets and went on the train, but we got fined five euros because we didn't get our tickets stamped. The train ride wasn't far at all, only a couple of minutes. We had to walk with our suitcases down a big tunnel that would take us to the main plaza in Monorola.

We met the lady that rented our apartment that we would be staying at for three days. Monorola reminds me of two cities in South America, Valparaiso, Chile and Ollantaytambo, Peru. It reminds me of Valparaiso because it's buildings are all different colors, and because Monorola is on the tip of a mountain looking over the sea. It reminds me of Ollantaytambo because Monorola is so small, so much like Ollantaytambo. Right up the block of our apartment it a beautiful terrace, which looks right over the ocean. Right away I knew I was going to like it at Cinque Terre. After we settled in, we went to look
for a swimsuit for Meghan. She left hers at home.

Dad and I wanted to go swimming so we went in the small swimming hole that a bunch of other people were swimming in. The water was nice, not too cold, not too warm. We swam for about an hour and I worked on my diving skills. We went back to the apartment and Dad made dinner. The pasta was a little dry, but it was still good. We ended the day by watching the sun go down.
