Walking Tour of Florence

Morning walking tour of Florence and the Academia with tour guide Sabina who arrived right on time according to her schedule but our schedule read one hour earlier so there was quite some angst by the time she met us.  Waiting in front of the Academia we were constantly searching the crowd for our guide, asking if this was the only entrance area, and trying not to step on paintings that art students placed right in the roadway/waiting area.

Sabina took us inside the Cathedral and lower area where the earliest foundations and mosaic floors of prior cathedrals built by the Romans centuries before. Michelangelo's David of course was the highlight of the tour and we visited several other palazzos and historic buildings.  Our guide was very knowledgeable on Firenze history and I found it a little overwhelming.  I think I became more impatient than the kids and was very ready for the tour to end.
